Matching the Brand

The early stages of the design process involved gaining an understanding of the brand persona and brainstorming how we could portray this sonically.

​

The mission of the company was to encourage movement for the sake of pleasure and personal well-being, instead of commonly negative motivations like peer pressure and body image. Our product was a mobile app that doubled as both a game and a fitness app. Some of the words we used to describe the persona of our product were fun, friendly, and lighthearted.

 

After getting a clear picture of our brand persona, I worked with the UI/UX Designer to construct a style guide for the sound design of our app.

Testing the Design

After developing several sounds for different interactions within our app, I created preference tests utilizing sound demos to gauge user preference.

Examples of user feedback:

"Option two matches the movement of the animation more than the other option."

"The second option makes more sense, but this sound is less abrasive and fits better with the others."

"The first option had an annoying noise at the end. I much prefer the second option"
